Finance Committee
BALANCING LEVIES AND SERVICES
During my time on Council, I was fortunate enough to serve as a member of the Finance Committee. It has been an interesting balancing act especially over the pandemic when closures and lower revenues occurred.

On the Committee, I helped prioritize items within two budget cycles. The first budget (2021), we did not increase the levy but maintained services. The second budget cycle (2022), we had some tough decisions to make when a property adjustment and inflation were issues to consider. The Committee prioritized projects and chose those that most benefited maintaining and even improving the existing services for our citizens, with a slight increase in the levy, although the overall tax bills for residents should have decreased in total.

I will continue to work with the Committee to consider how the community and the City would like to use the ARPA funds of $15.7 million. We have had multiple listening sessions and are still considering what is the best to do with these one time funds. If re-elected, I look forward to continuing to participate in that discussion.
